I love you?

Yesterday, as I was sitting outside of work feeling lathargic and sorry for myself, a baby turtle came wandering up to me from the parking lot.  This baby turtle was far from it’s natural habitat, that of murky water, alge, and the like.  I wondered how he made it that far, facing such alien and irregular conditions.  He just kept waddling, with webbed feet and layers of dried up dirt stuck to his pebbled size shell. Inch by inch, it seemed he didn’t give up.  I took him home for the night, giving him a plastic box with plenty of holes for air, some dirt and a worm, and some water for him to swim in.  Despite how much I wanted to keep him and watch him grow big to the point of his wanting to bite my finger off for holding him in captivity for so long,  I woke up the next morning and put him in the lake down the street from my house.  It seems to me perseverance pays off.
